Our mission is to be a visible, influential organization that promotes cultural integration, fights against discrimination, raises awareness of social issues and promotes culture through various marketing activities.
We imagine a future in which Ugandan Americans have opportunities to be community leaders, while representing Uganda and contributing to a better world. We believe in the promise of Uganda and that our talents and energy will contribute to the greatness of both our nation countries.
Transparency
Inclusion
Engagement
We strive to promote
Transparency, Inclusivity and Engagement throughout our organization and in all our activities, thereby fostering a culture of togetherness, purpose and belonging among our people.
Advance our influence in business, culture and society.
Today the Ugandan American community is rapidly growing, yet we are under-represented among those who are making decisions that affect our wellbeing in both the private and public sectors. The UAC will work tirelessly to help our community rise to positions of leadership, thereby positioning ourselves to make our mark on society through our active engagement.
Invest in building a new generation of Ugandan American leaders.
As Ugandan Americans continue to realize success, it is in our best interest to nurture our younger generations, and steer them towards becoming active citizens and future leaders. The UAC encourages and promotes knowledge sharing and mentorship, in an effort to empower our youth to develop new and sustainable future opportunities.
Motivating our community to engage in the political process.
Public leaders, many of whom are elected, often define society’s values. We must therefore build a political infrastructure that will help our Ugandan American community participate fully in the democratic process.
Raise awareness and stimulate dialogue about affairs on the Ugandan Peninsula.
We are a community of immigrants with a remarkable history and a complex vision for the future. UAC’s concerns about security and peace transcend ideological, political, and generational lines. We must promote both understanding and change in order to adapt culturally, while sustaining or heritage.
Promote a positive and united image of Ugandan Americans.
Many Ugandan Americans have experienced victimization due to tribalism. This, and all other forms of discrimination must be promptly and adequately addressed. We aim to be proactive and convey a healthy image that challenges old stereotypes, which are sometimes unintentionally accepted as normal within family and peer relationships.
